The state of the country is in trouble. Everyone is concerned with their welfare, and the holidays are apprehensively approaching. We shouldn’t be concerned with being able to buy those cute Ugg boots, that Apple I-phone or a Playstation 3. We should all be thankful that there is still a roof over our heads to keep us warm and safe, as well as food on the table every night. As long as we still hold on to the necessities of food, shelter and health, that is all that matters.
Unfortunately, there are many people in our country that don’t have certain necessities needed in life. Even though we are all going through difficult times, we still need to be generous towards the homeless. We all may have problems, but there is always someone somewhere that is in a worse position than us.
Rosslyn is doing something to help our homeless. On Thursday, December 11th from 6:30-9:00 p.m. at the Top of the Town, there is the Third Annual A-SPAN Help-the-Homeless Holiday Gala. There will be a Live Auction with 107.3′s Chilli Amar, live music and hors d’oeuvres catered by Santa Fé Cafe. A-SPAN is a nonprofit community-based organization hosting the gala. Their mission is to assist every homeless person in Arlington County to get off the streets and live a life of dignity. A-SPAN works with and on behalf of homeless people to secure the support and services necessary for them to lead self-sufficient and healthy lives.
