Jane was looking directly at Aaron, wondering why he had such a smug look on his face.
“I think that we should not be here. This dinner is going to be too expensive,” she said to him. Still, he kept a smile painted on his face. “Did you even hear me, Aaron? I’m saying that we can’t afford things like this.”
“Oh, honey, yes we can. You can’t think like that. Hold on, here comes our waiter. Let’s order first and then talk,” responded Aaron as he reviewed his selections on the menu.
Three minutes later, the waiter left clearly pleased and Jane was left clearly upset. While she had chosen the least expensive entree that the restaurant offered, Aaron had chosen the most expensive steak and had the gall to order appetizers. To top it off, just before the aiter was about to leave, he had added a bottle of red wine to their order. Was he crazy?
“Aaron, we’re not rich! That bottle of wine that you so nonchalantly ordered could have been all of next week’s groceries. I just don’t know what you’re thinking,” Jane said in desperation.
Realizing that he may have played it a touch too far, Aaron decided that now was certainly the moment to let her know.
“Jane, I have news,” he said. Jane picked up her head and Aaron saw the tiniest tear at the corner of her left eye. To see that made him all the more sorry that he hadn’t told her before. “There is a reason that I am not too worried with how much we spend on dinner tonight. I have secured a second source of income,” Aaron confidently said, “and, therefore, I want us to consider this to be a celebration of sorts.”
“A second source of income?,” questioned Jane. “Aaron, I don’t know how that could be when all that I see you do when you come home from work is go on that computer.”
Aaron’s smile increased all the wider now. “Exactly!,” he exclaimed “That is just it; that is how I make the extra money.” Aaron could see that she was not following what he was saying. “Honey, I’m so excited that I realized that I haven’t been communicating to you the past few days about why I’ve been so into being on the computer,” he said.
“I was beginning to think that you liked it more than me,” Jane said.
Aaron pretended that he hadn’t heard the comment and continued. “You know how I have my blog that I add to each day, well, now I have found a quick, simple way to get paid for blogging. Basically, there is this site named Review Me, and I sign up for it as a blogger. On my blog, I review about products and services, then post them. The amount of visitors from my site that visit the review portion of my blog determines how much money I get!”
“So, instead of just typing on your blog, you’re now getting paid for it. Is that what you’re telling me in a nutshell?,” asked Jane. “That is pretty easy and simple. I guess I won’t be able to call your blog time ‘wasting time’ anymore!”
“No, you won’t, Aaron agreed. “And Review Me pays on a monthly basis, so we don’t have to worry about when payments will come. It’s so wonderful,” he said.
“Almost as wonderful as this surprise dinner,” said Jane.
